Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in especial - led to him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of 2023.

Success also signifies he has won twenty-one titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had led observers to question if his skill to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five games to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

He defended four early chances in a tight third set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a return after over two and a half hours.
